This PCB is intended for use in hard drive repair or data recovery tasks. Most hard drive PCBs store unique information in the ROM "memory" chip; this data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its data must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transfer.
