This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — the hard drive is not included. Because we keep large quantities of these PCBs in stock, the actual board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. This PCB is sold for use in data recovery and hard drive repair scenarios. Before ordering, confirm that a PCB swap will address your drive problem by consulting our Hard Drive Diagnostics Guide, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most of these PCBs store unique drive-specific data in a ROM (memory) chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board, or the new board must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM information. If you cannot perform the transfer yourself, a local computer technician can usually move the chip. For customers spending $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service — either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement with the proper ROM data.
