This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) only — the hard drive itself is not included. Because we stock a large quantity of PCBs, the board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Most hard drive PCBs store unique configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to operate correctly and must be transferred to the replacement board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform that swap; alternatively the ROM data can be reprogrammed onto the new board. For orders of $60 or more we provide a complimentary adaptation service that covers either moving the ROM chip to the replacement PCB or reprogramming the new board with the correct ROM data.
