This listing is for the hard drive circuit board (PCB / logic board) ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we stock many PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement circuit boards are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Most hard drive PCBs store unique calibration and configuration data in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be moved or reprogrammed onto the replacement board; if physical chip transfer is possible, a local computer technician can usually perform the work. For purchases of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either transplanting the ROM chip onto the new PCB or programming the new board with the correct ROM data.
