Important technical note: Most Seagate PCBs hold unique data in a ROM (“memory”) chip that is required for the drive to function correctly. That ROM chip—or its contents—must be transferred to the replacement circuit board. If the ROM chip can be physically moved to the new board, a local computer technician should be able to perform the transplant.
