No rating yet(0 ratings)Safavieh Toronto Shag Rugs (sku-47219708, UPC 113102805265) are simple indoor area rugs available in multiple sizes. A rug pad helps prevent shifting and sliding. For routine care, vacuum thoroughly and often with a good canister vacuum, preferably without beater bars. Vacuum more frequently in high-traffic areas to keep soil from settling deep in the rug. Do not vacuum fringe, especially on a hand-knotted rug. After a liquid spill, press a clean cloth firmly around it to absorb the liquid. Do not rub. For a stain, mix water, white vinegar and mild detergent; apply only the foam, then remove residue with a clean cloth. Professional cleaning is recommended for stubborn stains. Viscose is a cellulose-derived, man-made fiber also called artificial silk. It has a soft look and feel similar to silk, costs less, blends with other fibers and holds vivid dyes. Rugs made entirely or partly with viscose need special care. Use a carpet sweeper regularly on a 100 percent viscose rug. If vacuuming, use low power and disengage or raise the beater bars. Because viscose is highly absorbent, treat stains with a clean, damp cloth and a mild cleanser when needed. For tough stains, apply only the foam from a water, white vinegar and mild detergent solution; wipe away residue with a clean, damp cloth. A small amount of fabric softener sprayed on the stained area can help preserve the fibers' softness. New wool rugs naturally shed. A rug pad reduces the friction that can increase shedding. For the first few weeks, vacuum a new wool rug 1 to 2 times a week on low pressure, without beater bars and in the direction of the pile. Shedding generally diminishes within 4 to 6 months or less. Clip loose ends or stray loops with scissors rather than pulling them. Shipping may leave temporary creases or kinks that gradually settle. Back-roll or reverse-roll the rug to help flatten it, or allow it time to settle. Put rug protectors beneath heavy furniture legs to avoid flattening the pile. Direct sunlight fades rug colors over time; placing the rug away from it, drawing curtains or blinds, or using UV-blocking window treatments can reduce fading. For indoor-outdoor rugs, follow the material-specific instructions on the label. Their synthetic materials resist dirt and stains and withstand traffic, spills and the elements, but still need regular care. Sweep and vacuum them more often than indoor rugs. Blot spills promptly with a dry towel or paper towels without rubbing, then sponge the area with a little cold water. Periodically sweep, vacuum and rinse the whole rug with a garden hose, preferably over a rail for drainage. Dry it over a railing in sunlight, turning it so both sides dry.
