Made from diecast metal and some plastic, it is approximately 4 inches long with a 4.25 inches wingspan. The depicted Saab 340A was a twin-engine regional turboprop. Eastern Express, a subsidiary of Eastern Air Lines, used the aircraft to connect smaller northeastern markets with larger hubs during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Its short takeoff and landing capability suited regional airports, and routes linked smaller towns with hubs including Boston, New York and Washington, D.C.
