The Rosewill RNE-01 is a Computer Accessories M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD enclosure with a transparent back plate. It accepts M Key and B+M Key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes, with capacities up to 8TB. Its USB4 connection supports up to 40Gbps; the stated transfer rate is enough to move a 3GB file in 1 second. In Thunderbolt 4 laptop tests, it reached 3700MB/s read and 3100MB/s write, about 3x the speed of common USB 3.2 enclosures. A silent built-in fan, vents at both ends, a thermal pad and an SSD heatsink help dissipate heat during heavy use. The enclosure supports USB4 and Thunderbolt 3/4 hosts at up to 40Gbps, USB 3.2/3.1/3.0 ports at up to 10Gbps, and USB 2.0. It works with Mac M1/M2, including Pro/Max, Intel systems from the 12th generation onward, and common PC, MacBook, iPad and Chrome devices. It supports macOS and Windows. Older Thunderbolt generations and some USB host ports may not deliver the full 40Gbps bandwidth.
