Roosebeck BLLPDW White Acoustic Guitars sku-683215334

Roosebeck BLLPDW is a White Prima balalaika listed under Acoustic Guitars as sku-683215334, UPC 844731057915. It measures approximately 27 inches long, with a 430 mm scale length and a triangular body. The slightly bowed back uses walnut stave construction. Decorative walnut on the soundboard helps protect it from strumming, and a gig bag is included.

The strings tune above middle C to A, E, E from first to third. The thinnest string, the first, runs over more frets than the other two. Use a piano or electronic tuner for reference, and adjust peg tension with the screw on top of each peg. To play, note the strings with the left hand and strum near the neck with the right index finger.

The balalaika likely evolved from the dombra, still played in Kazakhstan; knowledge of it likely reached Russia through Mongol trade and conquest. After structural changes, Russians adopted the instrument. It has been said to express shifts between happiness and sadness. Peasant ballads written for it sometimes mocked authority, and the Orthodox Church and the state banned it at times.

Its folk popularity peaked in the early 18th century. The walnut instrument is brand new and ships insured.
