Philip Jodidio All Books KWK Promes Book sku-371888271

Philip Jodidio's hardcover Robert Konieczny KWK Promes: buildings + ideas is listed under All Books, SKU sku-371888271. The illustrated monograph combines Jodidio's commentary with photographs, plans and diagrams to explain the concepts behind the firm's residential and public projects.

Examples include Warsaw's German embassy, Dublin's U2 tower, a bridge over the Adige River in Verona, Italy, and the Plato Contemporary Art Gallery in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Konieczny, founder and principal of Poland's KWK Promes, also works on museums, galleries, festivals and exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale.

His projects examine how people experience and move through spaces; the firm's kinetic architecture includes movable structures that catch light. The International Jury of the Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago placed several KWK Promes houses on its list of the world's best houses. Konieczny's own house, the Ark, received a Wallpaper* Design Award for Innovative Design.

He has also received an award from Poland's Minister of Culture for achievements in architecture, and Konieczny and KWK Promes received a World Architecture Festival Award for the best building in 2016. The book includes Konieczny's account of the logic behind the designs and Jodidio's discussion of how the firm's concepts might apply beyond their Polish context.
