Timothy Keegan Colonial South Africa History sku-53369144

In Colonial South Africa and the Origins of the Racial Order, Timothy Keegan examines South African history before the mineral age, particularly British rule up to the 1850s. He argues that the roots of the twentieth-century racial state lie in the Cape's integration into the early nineteenth-century British empire of free trade, rather than only in the later mineral revolution.
