William Franke Poetry and Apocalypse All Books sku-10145833

William Franke's Poetry and Apocalypse: Theological Disclosures of Poetic Language is a hardcover listed under All Books as sku-10145833. Franke examines the premises for dialogue between cultures, particularly between religious fundamentalisms, including Islamic fundamentalism, and modern Western secularism.

He argues that genuine openness to dialogue requires accepting possibilities such as religious apocalypse, which poetry can help people understand. His reading of Christian epic and prophetic tradition treats it as a secularization of religious revelation that retains an apocalyptic view of truth and its disclosure in history.

He draws on the tradition's often-neglected negative theology to develop a view of apocalypse as both religious and poetic.
