Alexander Tumanov; Vladimir Tumanov Memoir sku-541390430
No rating yet(0 ratings)This Musical Instruction memoir by Alexander Tumanov; Vladimir Tumanov follows Alexander Tumanov's career from the Soviet Union to Canada. He was a founding member of Moscow's Madrigal Ensemble, which introduced Renaissance and Baroque music to Soviet audiences.
The group toured despite official disapproval and restrictions on some selections; compositions by its founder, Andrei Volkonsky, were banned during some periods. Volkonsky emigrated, and Tumanov followed in 1974. The ensemble continued under new leaders. In Canada, Tumanov took part in vocal music and worked to promote underrepresented musicians from his home country.
The book covers the émigré musical community and is the first published book on the Madrigal Ensemble. It is number 12 in the North Texas Lives of Musicians Series. SKU: sku-541390430.
