The Nikon Z50 II combines a DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine (the same processor used in Nikon’s flagship full-frame bodies) to deliver a balance of high sensitivity, refined image quality, fast AI-powered autofocus, and full-resolution continuous shooting up to 30 fps. Its native sensitivity spans ISO 100-51200, and can be extended to ISO 204800 for very low-light work. The EXPEED 7 processor also enables Pre-Release Capture, which records a burst of frames for up to a second before the shutter is fully released. When Pre-Release Capture is turned on, burst capture begins on a half-press of the shutter and the buffer preserves those pre-release frames when you complete the full press. For video, the Z50 II supports UHD 4K recording up to 60 fps and Full HD up to 120 fps. It also offers a Product Review mode, recording time limits up to two hours, a video self-timer, built-in electronic Vibration Reduction, and the option to save movies to the in-camera memory cards or to an optional external recorder via HDMI out. Note on software: the supplied software is designed for Windows operating systems only; Mac users can still run it by installing Windows via virtualization or dual-boot utilities — for example, Parallels Desktop (paid subscription) or Boot Camp Assistant (free). Several other free methods are also available for those who prefer alternatives.
