The Nikon Z5 is an FX-format mirrorless that combines a compact, rugged design with features for both photographers and videographers. Its full-frame 24.3MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor provide high sensitivity and fast operation for a wide range of shooting situations. Native ISO 100–51200 (expandable to 102400) supports low-light work while keeping noise under control. Performance-wise, the EXPEED 6 engine enables full-resolution continuous shooting at 4.5 fps. The camera also allows extraction of 8MP stills while recording video, giving flexibility for mixed shooting needs. For video capture, the Z5 records UHD 4K up to 30 fps (with a 1.7x crop) and Full HD up to 60 fps using the full frame. Movies can be saved to internal memory cards or output via HDMI to an external recorder. The camera also includes an in-camera time-lapse function that can produce a finished UHD 4K time-lapse movie directly. Built to handle demanding conditions, the Z5 features a weather-sealed magnesium alloy body. For composition and monitoring it offers a 3.6m-dot OLED EVF for detailed eye-level viewing plus a 3.2" tilting touchscreen LCD for shooting from high or low angles. Note on software: the supplied software is compatible only with Windows. Mac users can still run it by installing Windows through virtualization or dual-boot solutions — for example, Parallels Desktop (paid) or Boot Camp Assistant (free).
