NF-981 OTDR Fiber Fault Detector — OPM, VFL, OLS & Event Map for Ethernet/CATV/LAN (Quality Assurance)

The NF-981 combines an OTDR with an integrated optical power meter, visual fault locator and stable light source to provide a single instrument for fiber troubleshooting and verification across Ethernet, CATV and LAN networks. Event Map: One-click automatic testing produces a graphical event map that clearly shows the total link length, event point types, breakpoint locations and distances so fault locations are easy to interpret. Optical Power Meter: Built-in OPM functions support optical signal power measurements and insertion loss testing of equipment and optoelectronic components. (F1: Switch wavelength, F2: Set reference power, F3: Set reference power to zero, F4: Enter oscilloscope mode) VFL (Visual Fault Locator): Injects visible red light (650nm) into the fiber so light leakage points can be observed directly, enabling quick and accurate identification of fiber breaks and defects. LS — Stable Light Source: The stable light source uses the same wavelength as the OTDR and is suitable for telecommunications, CATV, and LAN optical cable parameter testing. It is also used for testing light source device insertion loss, isolation, return loss, and for detector wavelength responsivity testing. Loss Test: Simultaneous display of 1310nm/1550nm light source output and power meter readings simplifies measurement of passive device insertion loss, isolation and return loss.
