Whisper Vale is an isolated community whose villagers face a supernatural threat and hardships of their own making. The deadly adventure is designed for parties of 48 Old-School Essentials characters of levels 35 or 48 Fifth Edition (5e) Tier One characters. Henchmen are available but not included. Players, gamemasters and referees can use the setting in their own campaign worlds: details of distant places and pantheons are sparse, and the prevalence of magic and healing is left open. The vale has three settlements. Whisper is a farming and trading village with farmsteads, an inn, an empty temple and small shops; tavern talk tends toward weather, harvests and ale, while arguments and brawls have been rare and usually drunken. Swindle, across the bridge, was abandoned after one catastrophe and settled by goblin bandits after another. Its "merchants" and "craftsmen" inhabit a scruffy, dishonest town. In the dwarven settlement of Cleft, younger residents have stopped working because a machine simulates the sounds of production.
