The stock 68-RFE and Aisin AS69RC cooling systems use an in-line thermal bypass valve to hold fluid back from the cooler until it reaches operating temperature. If that valve's thermostat fails, fluid may not reach the cooler and the transmission can overheat. Mishimoto's CNC-machined aluminum valve removes the internal thermostat, allowing full flow to the cooler whenever the truck is running. Its machined passages improve flow over the stock valve, while fins on the body help dissipate heat. It is intended for warm climates, heavy towing and trucks needing more effective transmission cooling.
