This sale is for the hard drive PCB (logic board) ONLY — the drive itself is not included. Because we stock these PCBs in large quantities, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photograph. The board is intended for hard drive repair and data recovery tasks. Before ordering, please use our Hard Drive Diagnostics Guide to confirm that replacing the PCB is likely to resolve your issue, and verify compatibility using the Donor Matching Guide. Most Maxtor PCBs store critical, drive-specific data in a ROM "memory" chip; that information is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can usually perform the transplant. For customers spending $60 or more, we provide a complimentary adaptation service that includes either moving the ROM chip to the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
