No rating yet(0 ratings)Nicholas G Piotrowski's Matthew's New David at the End of Exile: A Socio-rhetorical Study of Scriptural Quotations is a new English-language hardcover in Christian Books & Bibles. ISBN 9789004326781. It has 340 pages, sewn binding and cloth over boards, and is volume 170 of Novum Testamentum, Supplements.
Piotrowski examines the Old Testament quotations and allusions concentrated in Matthew's prologue. He argues that seven formula quotations establish a redemptive-historical setting shaped by expectations that David's son would end Israel's exile and rule the nations.
He also contends that this storytelling gave the Matthean community an identity amid contention, through God's historical design fulfilled in Jesus and his followers. SKU sku-54351317.
