Library Next by Catherine Murray-Rust | sku-940782363

In Library Next: Seven Action Steps for Reinvention, Catherine Murray-Rust draws on more than 40 years in libraries, including her time as Dean of Libraries at Georgia Tech. The paperback, listed under All Manuals & Guides as sku-940782363, asks how libraries can turn outward to make a difference for individuals and communities.

Its seven action steps include activities readers can adapt to their work and organizational culture. Murray-Rust discusses three kinds of information for measuring impact, working outside fragmented and risk-averse structures, the limits of managing cultural change, and developing plans with the community.

She also recounts personal challenges, an assignment that led to a role in a university-wide construction project, a renovation proposal, a visit to a Toyota plant to study employee engagement, and the Harwood Institute's approach to listening.
