No rating yet(0 ratings)Francisco J Galarte's Brown Trans Figurations, sku-225499986, is a hardcover listed under Collectible Comics N.E. The book examines how brown transgender people are represented, silenced and erased in queer, trans, Latinx and Chicanx cultural politics. Galarte develops “brown trans figuration” as a framework for understanding transness and brownness together.
He examines accounts of the violent deaths of two transgender Latinas, the absence of brown transmasculinity in Chicana feminist work, and transgender politics in Chicanx and Latinx movements. The book also considers how these narratives circulate through politics, sexual cultures and racialized economies.
It received an honorable mention for the National Women’s Studies Association's 2021 Gloria E. Anzaldúa Book Prize and was a 2021 finalist for Best LGBTQ+ Themed Book at the International Latino Book Awards. Its listed honors also include the 2022 John Leo & Dana Heller Award, the Alan Bray Memorial Book Prize, and the 2022 AAHHE Book of the Year Award.
