Hone Sadler: Ko Tautoro All Books Hardcover sku-43375559

Hone Sadler's Ko Tautoro, Te Pito o Toku Ao is a hardcover listed under All Books. The Ngapuhi elder recounts the origins, history and culture of Ngapuhi, described as New Zealand's largest iwi, whose people have occupied the northern North Island from Tamaki to Te Rerenga Wairua since their arrival from Hawaiki. Drawing on his hapu, Ngati Moerewa, Ngati Rangi and Ngai Tawake ki te Waoku of Tautoro and Mataraua, Sadler traces Ngapuhi sovereignty through karakia, whakapapa, histories and korero handed down through whanau, hapu and iwi on marae and elsewhere. First presented to open Ngapuhi's claim before the Waitangi Tribunal, the account appears in Te Reo and English on facing pages and introduces the Sacred House of Puhi.
