Professor Robert B Keiter Keeping Faith sku-22567877

Keeping Faith with Nature: Ecosystems, Democracy, and America's Public Lands is a paperback by Professor Robert B Keiter, listed in All Manuals & Guides under sku-22567877. Keiter examines historical, scientific, political, legal, and institutional changes in public land management, arguing that public lands should be viewed as an integrated ecological entity and a biodiversity stronghold.

Chapters open with resource disputes, including the Pacific Northwest spotted owl controversy and the struggle over southern Utah's Colorado Plateau, to examine forces and institutions that encourage or hinder change. The book discusses Congress's authority over the public domain alongside the roles of land agencies, federal courts, western communities, and a growing local collaborative movement.

Keiter proposes an approach to natural resources policy that brings ecosystem science together with political trends toward local decision-making.
