Kasumi Kuro knives are made by hand in Seki, Japan, using techniques developed through more than a decade of producing Kasumi series knives. Their construction draws on traditional Japanese swordmaking. The cutting blade is Molybdenium Vanadium high-carbon steel, with a Damascus pattern formed by repeated folding and forging of layered high-carbon stainless steel on both sides.
