Its filtration media provides up to 50% more airflow than disposable paper filters; a clogged or dirty filter can reduce acceleration by up to 10%. K&N estimates savings of $250 over 10 years compared with disposable filters. The reusable filter can last longer than 10 disposable filters and typically needs its first cleaning after 50,000 miles of normal highway driving. It is designed to protect the engine from contaminants and is the Official Air Filter of NASCAR.
