JVC GY-HM250U 4K Camcorder — 12.4 MP, 12x Optical Zoom, Flash Card Recording

Professional 4K streaming and recording with remote control The GY-HM250U integrates JVC’s IP communications engine to let you monitor and control camera and lens functions from a tablet, smartphone or computer anywhere on the network. Built-in live streaming supports HD or lower resolutions depending on bandwidth and uses JVC’s Advanced Streaming Technology (AST), including Zixi powered Forward Error Correction with ARQ and SMPTE 2022 forward error correction for robust delivery. RTMP protocol support lets you send streams directly to CDNs such as Facebook, YouTube and IBM Cloud — start broadcasting with a single button press. On-camera graphics and titles for solo operators Designed for single-camera productions, the camera can produce lower-third and full-screen titles for recorded or streamed HD without needing an external CG or production switcher. Lower-third overlays are generated and managed from any browser-equipped device (tablet or smartphone). JVC’s utility enables uploading logos or icons for display in the lower-third, and the camera includes several pre-installed color schemes plus the ability to add custom text bar designs — ideal for news, weddings, school, family or church events. Optics and sensor performance The GY-HM250U features an integrated 12x F1.2-3.5 optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 29.6-355mm) coupled with a 1/2.3-inch 4K CMOS sensor with 12.4M pixels, delivering strong sensitivity and fine detail across varied lighting. In HD mode, Dynamic Zoom combines optical zoom and pixel mapping to provide a seamless, lossless 24x zoom. A three-position ND filter wheel (0, 1/4th and 1/16th) adds exposure control convenience. 4K Ultra HD recording and live 4K output Record 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) at 150Mbps to SDHC or SDXC (UHS-I Speed class3) memory cards using the Quicktime (.MOV) file format compatible with many editing systems. A single HDMI cable will carry the live 4K signal to a monitor, and recorded files can be played back from the camera. The GY-HM200 also downconverts UHD signals to standard HD for output through the built-in SDI or HDMI connectors. High-quality HD options The camcorder captures 4:2:2 Full HD up to 60p at 50Mbps (stored in Quicktime (.MOV) format), making it well suited for general HD production. Conventional AVCHD (4:2:0) recording is also available for broad editing compatibility across standard HD and SD workflows. Dual SDHC/SDXC card slots for extended shooting Dual SDHC/SDXC slots provide flexible recording options such as simultaneous recording and relay recording. In relay mode the camera switches automatically to the second card when one card fills. Because the cards are hot swappable, continuous shooting time is effectively unlimited when swapping cards. Web-friendly proxy files for fast posting Lower-resolution H.264 proxy files (480x270p and 960x540p) can be recorded alongside full HD files. These proxies are much smaller — a 960 x 540 file is approximately 1/10th the size of a full HD file recorded at 35 Mbps — so they upload and transfer far faster. Small proxy files are also convenient for quick imports to an iPad for editing in iMovie or Pinnacle Studio, accelerating the workflow for getting content onto the web or back to the studio.
