Purpose-built for real marine use, the JL Audio M3-770X coaxial system delivers strong performance at a more accessible price than JL’s top-tier M6 line. The oversized 7.7-inch (196 mm) woofer boosts efficiency, producing higher output and cleaner sound at loud levels compared with smaller drivers. For proper low-frequency reproduction the woofer requires a rear enclosure of at least 2 cu. ft. / 57 l; using the speaker in a smaller volume will reduce its bass performance. Electrical and driver details: 70 W power rating, 4 Ω impedance. High frequencies are handled by a 0.75-inch pure silk dome tweeter that has been specially treated for the marine environment. Silk was selected for its light weight, excellent damping and naturally smooth response. Cosmetics and lighting: these speakers come with gloss white Sport Grilles that house an internal RGB LED lighting assembly. The LEDs are integrated into the grille frame and engineered to evenly illuminate the woofer cone for a vivid visual effect on board. An optional RGB controller can be added to produce thousands of color combinations. Installation and power recommendations: while the M3-770X coaxials will operate with as little as 20 W per channel, best results are achieved with amplifiers delivering 75–100 W of continuous power per channel.
