Ayaka Suzuki All Books: Women on the Right sku-5269276848

Ayaka Suzuki's Women on the Right: Conservative Gender Movements in Japan is a hardcover in the Japanese Society Series, listed under All Books as SKU sku-5269276848. It examines women's participation in right-wing social movements that have been increasingly active in Japan since around 2000.

The book discusses women in right-wing parties and other activists, including "internet right-wingers," who criticize liberal statements by women, slander female victims of sexual violence and comfort women, and oppose gender equality initiatives. Suzuki uses discourse analysis, interviews and fieldwork observation to explore their activities, mentalities and consciousness.

In the author's account, domestic care responsibilities and exclusion from male-dominated movement spaces are part of these women's experiences. She asks readers to consider what they may share with the women she studies.
