Overview: The HPE 500 series AP-503H delivers high-efficiency Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with up to 1.45 Gbit/s throughput and TAA compliance. It is engineered to maximize wireless performance in dense environments while simplifying management and IoT integration. Performance and airtime efficiency: These 500 series APs reduce airtime contention and boost overall Wi-Fi efficiency to improve the user experience in busy networks. The AP supports downlink MU-MIMO similar to Wi-Fi 5 APs, and can multiply the number of clients that can send traffic to better utilize client-to-AP spatial stream diversity. Client optimization with ClientMatch: Aruba’s AI-driven ClientMatch technology actively places Wi-Fi 6 and MU-MIMO-capable devices on the most appropriate AP. Using session metrics, it steers mobile devices to the better AP based on available bandwidth, application types and traffic patterns — even as users roam. Cellular coexistence: Aruba advanced cellular coexistence uses built-in filtering to reduce interference from cellular networks, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and commercial small cell or femtocell equipment, helping preserve Wi-Fi performance near cellular sources. Power monitoring and PoE awareness: The APs continuously monitor and report hardware energy use. They can be configured to enable or disable features based on available PoE power, which is useful when wired switches have exhausted their power budget. IoT platform capabilities: Each 500 series AP includes an integrated Bluetooth 5 and 802.15.4 radio to facilitate IoT location services, asset tracking, security solutions and sensor deployments. This built-in IoT support eliminates the need for overlay infrastructure and reduces additional IT resources. Security and policy enforcement: To simplify secure access and policy control, the 500 series uses Aruba’s policy enforcement firewall (PEF) to encapsulate traffic between the AP and the mobility controller for end-to-end encryption and inspection. Policies can be applied by user role, device type, application and location. High-density connectivity and flexible operation: Every 500 series AP offers connectivity for many clients per radio (recommended maximum client density varies with environment). These APs can run in controller-based mode or in controller-less mode, where a single AP acts as a virtual controller for the network.
