Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Print sku-13283068102

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art: a Black, size L reproduction of the historic print “Za-Ga-Zig, Des Moines, Ia., 6/9/23,” measuring 16" x 20". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, which enabled inexpensive mass-produced prints, was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural history. The company's reproductions include retro posters for display or gifts, including Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day designs and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
