Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art, size L, sku-13269413267, UPC 463635934674. This 16" x 20" reproduction is a head-and-shoulders portrait of William Drew Washburn (1831-1912) facing right. Snapshots of the Past restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The company uses fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks for prints intended to last for generations.

Its reproductions also include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home or work or as gifts.
