Snapshots of the Past Washburn Wall Art L sku-13342507168

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art sku-13342507168, UPC 467990896356, is a Black, size L reproduction of an 1886 WI Washburn map measuring 16" x 20". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor. Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced posters inexpensive.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on the complexity of American cultural heritage. Reproduction prints use fine-art and archival paper brands; archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to preserve prints for generations.

The collection also includes historical holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
