Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art | sku-13275904908 Print

Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art in size L, SKU sku-13275904908 and UPC 469960866505, is a historic print of the Western Union Telegraph Building in New York City, measuring 16" x 20". The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to preserve the prints for generations.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The company's other print subjects include old holiday posters and early aerial views of major cities.
