Snapshots of the Past Wallpaper L | sku-13619923902

Snapshots of the Past Wallpaper reproduction, SKU sku-13619923902, UPC 462151541076, is listed in Black, size L. The 18 x 24 inch historic print shows a design by Messrs. Virchaux & Co. with a ground imitating drapery, shaded and lighted by stripes and ornaments in sections of a circle.

The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives for display in homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Other examples in the collection include vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
