Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13255906469

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art listing is a historic print of the village church in Biltmore (Asheville), shown as 16" x 20" in the title. The listed color is Black, size L, UPC 469331608772 and SKU sku-13255906469. The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, tens of thousands of internet customers, and the White House redecoration project of 2008, for which it was selected as a vendor. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

A Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are described as suitable for keeping and passing down for generations. The company's examples of other prints include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.

It suggests retro-style posters for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
