Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Print | sku-13291265049

Snapshots of the Past Black L Wall Art, sku-13291265049, UPC 467609821045, is a 16" x 20" reproduction of a historic view of a mobile artillery battery during a parade at the Imperial School of Artillery, attributed to Abdullah Frères in Constantinople. The company's prints reproduce maps, photographs and other works restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography was invented in 1796, making inexpensive mass production of prints possible. A Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections about American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Other available subjects include vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of cities.
