No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13330806684 (UPC 468698178324), is a Black, size L reproduction of a 1915 Newport News, VA photo measuring 7 inches wide by 36 inches long. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives and uses archival paper and pigmented inks for its reproductions.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.
The Library of Congress started its American Memory pilot in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The company's wider selection includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
