Snapshots of the Past Print Wall Art L sku-13277308756

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, in Black (sku-13277308756; UPC 467705327984) depicts a Union Pacific engine leaving a roundhouse to haul President Roosevelt's special. The historic print measures 16" x 20". The company reproduces maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives using archival paper and pigmented inks, which are intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass-produced prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural heritage. Other reproductions include holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, suitable for display at home or work or as gifts.
