Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, Black, size L, SKU sku-13248803594, UPC 467960514341. This 16 x 20 historic print shows the U.S.S. Akron (navy) at the Goodyear Zeppelin Dock in Akron, Ohio. The company, founded in 2001, was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of Internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for use as home decor.

Its reproductions use fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can be enjoyed for a lifetime and passed down through generations. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced posters possible.

In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections concerning the complex history of American cultural heritage.

The collection also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The retro-style prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
