The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives on fine-art and archival paper using pigmented inks, intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural heritage.

The company's other prints include old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; they can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts.
