Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13289062020

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13289062020, UPC 464360807264, is listed in Black and size L. This 16 x 20 historic print reproduces To all true Whigs, New-York, Sep. 28, 1775. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for use as home decor.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

The prints use archival paper and pigmented inks, which the company says can last a lifetime and be passed down through generations. Its other reproductions include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; they can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.

Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. In 1989, the Library of Congress began the American Memory pilot project, which laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected Library collections focused on the complexity of American cultural heritage.
