Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13303655165

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, is a 16" x 20" reproduction print of Thomas G. Pratt, Maryland governor, shown in a half-length portrait facing left. The company restores historical images from the Library of Congress archives and prints reproductions on archival paper with pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass-produced prints, was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections relating to American cultural heritage. Archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to keep prints usable for a lifetime and allow them to be passed down. SKU: sku-13303655165.
