Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13263271250 Print

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print shows the Visayan village from Arrowhead Lake at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. It is a Black, size L reproduction measuring 16" x 20". The company makes historical maps, photographs and prints as home decor using images restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography was invented in 1796 and made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. A 1989 Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The company uses fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. Its wider selection includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style prints for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
