Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13280113301

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print depicts the old palace of Athens, then the headquarters of the Near East Relief Commission, which cared for a thousand orphans there. The Black, size L print measures 16" x 20". Snapshots of the Past makes reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

A 1989 Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, begun in 1995 to digitize selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The collection also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style prints for homes, studies or workplaces or as gifts. SKU: sku-13280113301. UPC: 465491861385.
