Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L: YWCA sku-13288003241

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13288003241, UPC 466745236492: a Black, size L reproduction of “The men know home folks know YWCA hostess houses in seventy camps.Briggs.” The print measures 16 x 20 inches. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

The development of inexpensive mass-produced poster prints followed advances in printing, including lithography, invented in 1796. The Library of Congress’s American Memory pilot project began in 1989 and laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections focused on the complex history of American cultural heritage.

These reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks, materials intended to let prints last a lifetime and be passed down. The range includes old Halloween, Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day posters, and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
