Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13324914725 Print

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print shows the Temporary Capitol (Second State Capitol), site of the Soldiers & Sailors Monument, in Des Moines, Polk County, IA. It measures 16" x 20" and is offered in Black, size L. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of poster prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; these retro-style prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts. SKU: sku-13324914725. UPC: 467837503270.
