No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, Black, sku-13257167007, UPC 463170895171, is a 16" x 20" historic print of students of the National Training School for Women and Girls posed outside a building in Washington, D.C. The image is credited to Scurlock Studio. The company restores archival maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress for home decor.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
