Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13277003932

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art item sku-13277003932 (UPC 469415532672) is a Black, size L reproduction print measuring 16" x 20". It depicts students at the Üsküdar Kiz Sanayi Mektebi art school for girls and is credited to Abdullah Frères, photographes de S.M.I. le Sultan. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

The company notes that lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of posters possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks, which the company says can last a lifetime and be passed down. Its range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home or work or as gifts.
