Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L Black sku-13472460673

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L (SKU sku-13472460673; UPC 467251283390), is an 18" x 24" historic print of a snow-covered street view in Hartford, Conn. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, allowed inexpensive mass production of posters. In 1989, the Library of Congress began the American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program begun in 1995. That program digitizes selected Library collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper from respected brands; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can last a lifetime and be passed down through generations.
